Owning and Living with a Bernese is a commitment that should not be taken lightly.

If you and your family want a dog that is :

* Large and Powerful,with a heavy coat.
* Calm and Steady with everyone.
* Craves constant companionship from you.
* Responds to gentle but steady training in a good-natured way.

Then perhaps a Bernese is the correct dog for your home.

However if you and your Family don't want:

* A large hairy dog that takes up a lot of house and car space.
* Lack of confidence and shyness if not socialised correctly. With some showing signs of Stubborness and Dominance.
* "Seperation anxiety " if left isolated from family for long periods.
* Short Life Span and certain lines exhibiting arthritic joint problems and other lines showing a high mortality to Cancer or Bloat.

Then perhaps a Bernese is not the ideal companion for you.
